Suncoast Environmental Technologies, LLC was formed to be a conduit to facilitate the transfer of some very high end, cutting edge Environmental Technologies into today's market place. Some of these technologies are new to the world in 2008, while others have been available in various parts of the world but not readily available in the North America market.

Suncoast Environmental Technologies LLC deals in both raw materials used to produce various products sold in North America as well as finished products used to improve the quality of the air around us and the water we use. Our products are some of the highest quality available in the market today. Some products are very high quality versions of similar products available from other manufacturers while some are so unique that only one manufacturer in the world has the technology and/or know how to produce them.

Suncoast Environmental Technologies, LLC offers triboelectric synthetic media in MERV 10 through MERV 13 for manufacturing wire-laminated pleated filters, as well as Triboelectric Rigid and Pocket filter media utilizing a four layer architecture available from Merv 9 through Merv 15. A full line of finished bag filters made from our triboelectric pocket filter medias with each individual pocket sonically sealed. A line of Activated Carbon media that ranges from 200 grams per SF to 1,000 grams per SF made in a unique way that greatly reduces the loss of the individual carbon particles during the conversion process.

There is also a myriad of Highly Specialized gas-phase medias including both liquid and air applications. A new cutting edge product that was recently patented which combines Highly Technical Carbons married with site-specific Geotextile Materials to effect an in-situ, capping technology for stabilizing toxic sedimentation underwater, e.g.; heavy metals, arsenic, PCB's, etc..

What is Triboelectric Media??

Triboelectric refers to the ability to a material to "Self-Charge" from the movement of friction and the resulting separation of the two fibers which are oppositely charged. This creates a strong electrical field that super-enhances the fibers ability to attract and hold micro-particles in the air. This can be compared to sliding across the seat of your car and being shocked when you touch the doorknob.

TriboElectric Effect: What is it????

Triboelectric effect in filter media is accomplished by needling in a blend of synthetic polymer fibers into a base material where the two polymers have opposite dielectric charges. This electrical charging continues through the life of the filter and does not diminish like corona-charged meltblowns will after time.

What is an Electrostatically Charged Filter ??

An electrostatically charged filter is a filters whose media fibers have been electrostatically charged to increase the ability of the filter media to catch and hold sub-micron particles. This gives the user low resistance to airflow while allowing the filter to operate at very high efficiency levels.

I have heard that electrostatic filters lose their charge and become very inefficient compared to when they are new. Is this true?

This phenomenon does hold true in synthetic medias which are 100% polypropylene meltblowns that are "artificially" charged by high-voltage corona-discharging. This artificial electrical charging can dissipate rapidly in high humidity environments and completely discharged when subjected to certain VOC's (Diesel Fumes), or PVA (Poly Vinyl Alcohol) compounds. 95% of all commercially made filter material in the US is made in this method.
